status of the pregnant mothers and children are monitored
periodically. Health cards and records are maintained by the centre.
Gender
sensitization: Gender sensitization is one of our major
activities in the villages. The project helps women to release their
power and to prove the myths wrong that women are weaker than man.
To break this oppressive system and to bring equality among men &
women is our continuous effort. The thought process of women is
rarely given any respect rather they are kept out of the decision
making process in family, community and in the society. The power is
intentionally grabbed from her even though she is the sarpanch of
gram-panchayat. Her husband exercises the power. What is wrong and
what is right for her is decided by the male. In this context what
kind of development we expect.
Awareness building and Empowerment : Development being a
transformation process for people, communities & societies from
present oppressive system to a just society can not be possible
without bringing a shift in individual motives to community endeavor.
Therefore awareness building and capacitating people is a continuous
effort. Series of awareness building programmes were undertaken in
the villages to make people realize about the contemporary
socio-political, economic changes our country and effect upon poor.
The basic question is asked about poverty and why we are poor?
Through games, group discussion, sharing of experiences, skits the
important aspects of poverty dynamics are convincingly motivate them
to unite and think critically to counter these marginalizing forces.
Identifying issues and to undertake actions are the future prospects
of the communities.
Community Organisation : We are in the process of building
women organizations in villages and they are coming out of the age
old envelops to experience the beauty of being a women. We organize
meeting, group discussion, Leadership training and entertainment
programmes to express the feelings. The women Sarpanch are give
opportunity to speak to the community which was done by her husband
previously. That is the changing process and simultaneously the
economic independence aspects is taken care of formation of Self
Help Groups (SHGs) are in the run. The strategy is to convert these
SHGs to MHGs (Mutual Help Groups) to issue based Groups where women
would have economic independence and decision making power. We
strongly believe women are the better manager in scare resources and
less corrupt.
3. Adolescent Girls’
Program
Among the
children the status of a girl is worst. Child marriage in
India still prevails. Girl child goes to her husband’s place in a
younger age. The organisation has been arranging short term courses
for the adolescent girls to enhance their capacity to adjust and
co-op with the future challenges.
v
It helps young girls
to discover themselves and build confidence in their abilities .
v
Supports them to
overcome physical and psychological problems.
v
It provides knowledge
about importance of balanced diet, health and hygiene, sex
education, child care, home management, skill development for
economic independence (e.g. tailoring, food preservation)

4.
Tomoko-san Education & Empowerment Project (TEEP)
This program is
dedicated to Tomoko Watanabe (1966 to 2007) of Japan .She was in her
exposure visit to Deep Bal Sewa and Mahila Kalyan Kendra and passed
away in an road accident.
Why Girls: The
situation of children in India needs attention. Especially among the
children the status of girls is worst. Starting from their birth
they have been treated as burden to the family and the
marginalization starts in the very hour of birth. This reflects in
all aspects of the girls life as her ability to make choices ,
continuing basic education , Scope of higher education , selection
of partners ,child bearing etc. This oppression on women not only
confine to the rural area but seen very much in the all over India.
Through this project , we will be working closely with the girls who
left school due to poverty .
Objectives:
v
Create Role models in
the community in relation to girls
v
Provide scholarship to
deserving girls for higher education
v
Ensuring adequate
knowledge building during adolescent phase of life
v
Awareness building of
the parents and community for importance of girls education
v
Integrating
other developmental aspects of children through education program
“To value her
own good opinion, a child has to feel that she is a worthwhile
person. She has to have confidence in herself as an individual “
